Inaugural Class of 2008 at Wounded Marine Careers Foundation learns Apple Professional Applications
A meeting of the minds round table where a person was allowed to air grievances & thoughts — call it the good, the bad & the ugly if you will — in front of Generals & Politicians who would then try to fix things, which they did 100% of the time & really fast. It was impressive to see the pull they had.
The routine was the VIPs would show up, ask questions of the Marines, their family members & the civilian instructors, then after brain-storming they'd offer support. It was important to have these meetings although they were not always frictionless. It didn't seem to matter what opinion one had about the war, this was about one thing, integrating the new veterans with job skills on a human level & moving forward together.
John Baca (left), Medal of Honor recipient & Vietnam Veteran, stands side-by-side with the veterans coming home from Afghanstan & Iraq. He & fellow Vietnam Veteran Jack Lions along with several other veterans from WW2, Korean War & Gulf War, would often visit the school to share their feelings & listen. It was invaluable to have these war veterans at the school — someone for the Iragi & Afghanistani War Veterans to relate to — I hope that any & all future programs like this regularly have war veterans participating & serve as a model.
To all intents, constructions & purposes the school was/is a working movie studio with cameras rolling all the time. Here John Baca, the General, & Congressman Darrell Issa, talk about the program, while Professors Levie Isaacks & Chat Gunter document the gathering.
